For the first time ever, I get to be part of the 18th Annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival here in Nashville. Not only do I get be involved, I'm honored to be hosting a round that celebrates not only diverse genres and but folks from different ethnic backgrounds. The artists performing will be Gabe Dixon, Danny Salazar, Betty Soo and yours truly. We perform April 3rd at 9:30 pm at Edgehill Studios.
Gabe Dixon - Gabe in my humble opinion is one of this country's most incredible and important songwriters. He's produced by the same producer as Paul McCartney and played and sang on nearly every track on Sir Paul's "Driving Rain" album. He then respectfully declined to tour with McCartney to focus on his record. His song "Find My Way" was the opening song in Sandra Bullock's movie, "The Proposal."
Danny Salazar - Danny is an impressive bilingual musician and songwriter. He grew up in Texas and his music is a fusion of Texas roots music, salsa, cumbia tropical and rock. His band, Trova Urbana, is a "mucho caliente" staple of the live local dance music scene.
Betty Soo - Betty Soo has blossomed into the toast of the contemporary singer songwriter/folk scene. She's from Austin and of Korean-American heritage. She's won Kerrville New Folk and Mountain Stage's NewSong Festival. She's small but mighty. Her husband and I graduated from the same college.
